How are You?
How are You?
"REFLECTIONS" pages are encouragement for you taken directly from Scripture. We invite you to let these truths sink down deep inside you, and to begin to know, understand and feel Comfort directly from our Father in heaven, designed especially for you and where you are at in life! Please also take time for the Pause, Reflect and Receive at the end of every REFLECTION.
How are You?
When we say a phrase like this to others, we really are asking: “How are you feeling?” We wonder about how a person is coping with life, how they are reacting to the pressures and challenges of life, how the real “inside” person is.
However, sometimes in our Christian walk, our focus turns to what we are doing for God, rather than how we are doing in life. Or, what we are doing externally, as opposed to how we are doing internally. Actions are surely important and flow from a spirit-filled life, but consider the continuing priority that Jesus showed so clearly in his life on earth.
Look at his visit to the home of Martha and Mary, where visiting with Mary trumped the work of meal preparation. Look at concern for Jairus: even though word came that Jairus’ 12 year old daughter died, Jesus kept on saying “Trust Me!” to reassure Jairus as Jesus was on his way to raise her from the dead. And be sure to look at this story from Luke…
Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him. As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out - the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.”
Then he went up and touched the coffin, and those carrying it stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!” The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.
The FIRST thing Jesus noticed was the mother’s overwhelming sorrow, and the FIRST action was to address that. Notice the word “then”; it seemed that the actual raising of the dead son was almost an afterthought.
Immerse yourself in the knowledge that the FIRST item of importance for Jesus is how you’re doing, and second is what you’re doing. In other words, Jesus’ priority is what He can do for you; second is what you can do for Him! This is a life-changing realization, and is perhaps a new way of thinking, but it will free you, bless you, and open a new chapter in life for you!
At the end of various readings in Comfort.Guide, we will have a "Pause", "Reflect" and "Receive" section. The purpose of this exercise is to help you better understand and to personally absorb the encouragement Comfort.Guide offers. If you would like, visit the "HOW TO USE" page for a review of "Pause, Reflect and Receive".
PAUSE … Invite Him to be with you; let Him quiet you with His Love.
REFLECT… What is God saying to you?
This is a story of more than a “just” a boy being resurrected from the dead. Just as important, it is a story of Jesus imparting “life” back into the widowed mother as well.
Also, can you sense a restored relationship in this story? What relationships would you like restored in your life?
RECEIVE …“Life” in every sense of the word is what Jesus has in mind for us! Let us ask Jesus to help us live in a vigorous, Spirit-filled life! This will be an on-going quest throughout the rest of your life, but nothing is more important!
