WORKSHEET
"Identifying Loss of Human Core Needs - Must & Should, with Scripture"
A "WORKSHEET" is simply a way for you to look squarely at yourself and see where you are. Like a GPS system in your car or in your phone, you have to know where you're at, honestly, clearly and completely.
At the beginning of these worksheets, take time to pause and quiet yourself. This is a great time for reflection as to how to care for yourself. Ask the Holy Spirit for inspiration and insight as you work through this worksheet.
Worksheets can be printed so you can reflect on them later, or perhaps your device has the ability to make notes right on the Worksheet page, then you can save the Worksheet in your device for later review.
In Weeks 6 & 7, you saw this same worksheet. The purpose then was to help you become more familiar and aware of your thoughts, feelings and resulting beliefs, and the events and experiences associated with them. At this point we want to look at these same beliefs, identify the loss of human core needs that contributed to these beliefs and were based in woundedness, but then begin to change these beliefs into believing God's truth. The Scriptures are meant to bring God's comfort, freedom, healing and growth to those losses. Perhaps you will have additional Scriptures which have special meaning for you.
I learned that in order to be loved, to feel safe and to feel accepted, I must/should:

* Have a "perfect" life (house, education, career, children, appearance.....)
* Be the caretaker of everyone else
* Be in control
* Be dependent
* Be independent
* _______________________________________________________________
I learned that to be both safe and significant, I must/should:
* Never trust anyone
* Never admit to having needs
* Never share vulnerable feelings
* Never play
* Never let down my guard
* Never hope too much
* Have a significant relationship (e.g., a man in my life)
* Be strong and powerful
* Have a significant job

Steps for Heart Change…..
1. Bring the thoughts and beliefs that usually drive your everyday life into conscious awareness. Consider the harmful effect on an everyday basis.
2. Let these thoughts and beliefs be replaced by intentionally choosing to agree with God’s Truth and then stating that Truth. Pause long enough to allow a calming in your spirit, especially if you are deeply touched during this reflection time. The Scriptures shown below are just the beginning to know God's Truth for your life. Put your name into these Scriptures below and make them personal to you and they will become alive in your heart.
In a previous Worksheet, you were invited to look at yourself in the following seven areas. Here is the basics of that same Worksheet, with Scriptures for your encouragement.
Unlovable Deeply loved

"God showed his love for us when he sent his only Son into the world to give us life. Real love isn’t our love for God, but his love for us. God sent his Son to be the sacrifice by which our sins are forgiven." (I John 4, CEV)
"God’s Spirit doesn’t make us slaves who are afraid of him. Instead, we become his children and call him our Father. God’s Spirit makes us sure that we are his children." (Romans 8, CEV)
Frightened Secure

"You are the one who put me together inside my mother’s body, and I praise you because of the wonderful way you created me. Everything you do is marvelous! Of this I have no doubt." (Psalm 139, CEV)
"The people of Zion said, 'The Lord has turned away and forgotten us.' The Lord answered, 'Could a mother forget a child who nurses at her breast? Could she fail to love an infant who came from her own body? Even if a mother could forget, I will never forget you. A picture of your city is drawn on my hand. You are always in my thoughts!' " (Isaiah 49, CEV)
Unaccepted Accepted

"You are no longer slaves. You are God’s children, and you will be given what he has promised."
(Galatians 4, CEV)

"I can do all this through Him who gives me strength." (Philippians 4, NIV)
Unworthy/“Bad” Worthy/”Good”

"God’s Spirit doesn’t make cowards out of us. The Spirit gives us power, love, and self-control."
(2 Timothy 1, CEV)
"Because you are precious in My eyes, and honored, and I love you..." (Isaiah 43: 4, ESV)
Isolation Belonging

"You Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens with everyone else who belongs to the family of God. You are like a building with the apostles and prophets as the foundation and with Christ as the most important stone. Christ is the one who holds the building together and makes it grow into a holy temple for the Lord. And you are part of that building Christ has built as a place for God’s own Spirit to live."
(Ephesians 2, CEV)
Insignificant Significant

"Christ also brought you the truth, which is the good news about how you can be saved. You put your faith in Christ and were given the promised Holy Spirit to show that you belong to God."
"My prayer is that light will flood your hearts and that you will understand the hope that was given to you when God chose you. Then you will discover the glorious blessings that will be yours together with all of God’s people. I want you to know about the great and mighty power that God has for us followers. It is the same wonderful power he used when he raised Christ from death and let him sit at his right side in heaven. There Christ rules over all forces, authorities, powers, and rulers. He rules over all beings in this world and will rule in the future world as well." (Ephesians 1, CEV)
3. Consider and imagine (see yourself) responding in new ways to everyday life challenges.
How would your life be changed by accepting this new truth about yourself, God and others?
How would your new beliefs begin to bring comfort to your memories?
Ask the Holy Spirit to show you.
