WORKSHEET
Identifying Personal Triggers
A "WORKSHEET" is simply a way for you to look squarely at yourself and see where you are. Like a GPS system in your car or in your phone, you have to know where you're at, honestly, clearly and completely.
At the beginning of these worksheets, take time to pause and quiet yourself. This is a great time for reflection as to how to care for yourself. Ask the Holy Spirit for inspiration and insight as you work through this worksheet.
Worksheets can be printed so you can reflect on them later, or perhaps your device has the ability to make notes right on the Worksheet page, then you can save the Worksheet in your device for later review.
EVENT
Begin with remembering an event that activated a response from you that was uncomfortable and created a negative or surprising emotional reaction. Tell the story of this event in a simple set of sentences or pictures that are sequential from the beginning through the middle to the end. For example, I came home late, my wife asked me where I had been and why I was late, I yelled at her and said….. she yelled at me and said……. I yelled back and threatened to leave, she yelled back and said….. I…….She…..
INTERPRETATION OF THIS EVENT
After telling this story pause for a moment and see if you are experiencing any change in your body such as: shallow breathing, muscle tension, digestive discomfort, wanting to shut down or run, awareness of anger, awareness of sadness, unexpected tears. Begin to ask the Holy Spirit to help you see the loss of core needs that may have been triggered within your heart that is being expressed in your reaction. Refer to your own personal worksheet “Seeing My Loss Clearly”.
RESPONSE IN THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS TO THE INTERPRETATION OF THIS EVENT
Begin to allow yourself to put into words the unconscious thoughts that were activated by this interpretation of loss in the midst of this event. Begin to put into words and be able to name the feelings that you are experiencing now and experienced then.
OVERALL BEHAVIORAL AND NEUROLOGICAL RESPONSE TO THIS EVENT
What do you think was the behavioral coping mechanism that was activated during this event? Has this coping mechanism become a repetitive harmful pattern in your life?

PROMISES ..... short Scriptures to build you up and give you hope!
"He reached down from high and took hold of me; He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes who were too strong for me. ...but the Lord was my support. He brought me out into a spacious place; He rescued me because He delighted in me." (Psalm 18, NIV)
